“What’s the conversation I need to stop having?”

This powerful question, shared by David Whyte with Joel Monk on a recent Coaches Rising episode, resonates, as we step into 2025.

Here’s an invitation:
Why don’t we spend a little time to reflect on the conversations—whether with yourself or others—that we keep repeating but that don’t seem to lead anywhere. Is it time to reframe these conversations? Or, as David Whyte suggests, is it time to stop having them altogether?

To identify them, we can try to notice patterns: Which conversations leave you feeling stuck, frustrated, or drained – a little like being stuck on a merry-go-round? Which ones loop endlessly without bringing new insights? Ask yourself if you’ve chosen the ‘easy’ option—when leaning into discomfort might open up new possibilities. Imagine yourself years from now, looking back at your life—what would you wish you’d let go of sooner?

What if we at least paused the conversations that no longer serve us—just for a bit—and opened ourselves to exploring new alternatives?

What might emerge? For ourselves, for those around us, and for the stories we help shape together? Reflective practice can build this awareness, and coaching can amplify it. If you’d like to explore this further, feel free to get in touch for an informal chat. https://candidajavaid.co.uk/contact/

Happy New Year! I’m excited to see what new conversations might unfold in 2025.
