A reflective practice space for people who want to listen more deeply, think more clearly, and have more meaningful conversations.
Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 pm | Begbroke Village Hall, near Kidlington in North West Oxford, around five minutes from Blenheim. You can also find all the dates for this term here.
Welcome. I’m really glad you’re here.
Are you curious about deepening your understanding of coaching and developing your own authentic thinking? If you’ve ever searched self-help books or online tools for answers, you may already know this: real insight doesn’t come from a page or an algorithm. It emerges through genuine human connection and dialogue. AI can offer quick responses – but coaching is about dialogue and conversations that help us grow.
The Oxford “Coaching in Action” Community Group is a small, thoughtful community dedicated to exploring coaching as a lived, relational practice.
Together, we:
- Deepen our understanding of what coaching truly is: a process that enables learning and development
- Practise core coaching skills such as active listening, presence, and noticing the unsaid
- Learn through peer dialogue, reflection, and feedback
- Move beyond surface-level answers into meaningful, sometimes challenging conversations
This isn’t about being polished or having the right words. It’s about being present, curious, and willing to learn – together. If you believe in the irreplaceable power of human connection in the age of AI, you’ll feel at home here. Come explore your why, share your story, and keep your coaching in action.
Who this group is for
People join this group for many reasons, often to improve how they think, listen, and converse. You might find it helpful if you want to listen more deeply and ask more meaningful questions, think more clearly under pressure or in complex situations, or support others without taking over. You may have encountered coaching before but struggled to use it naturally, or you may simply enjoy reflecting on your own thinking and behaviour in a practical, hands-on way. Previous sessions have explored topics such as active listening, noticing patterns in conversation, asking questions that encourage reflection, building clarity and confidence in decision-making, and practising coaching in everyday situations. Curious about the topics and skills we’ve explored? You can get an idea here.
This group celebrates coaching that goes beyond tools and techniques
The sessions are clear, practical, and research informed.
A lot of coaching training stays at the surface and focuses on tools, models, and techniques. In this group, we slow things down and pay attention to how we listen, how we think, and how conversations really work in the context of the coaching approaches we choose to explore more closely. The emphasis is on coaching as something lived and practised, not something to perform.
What you will experience
This is a supportive space to explore ideas from coaching and psychology and to practise together in a way that feels safe and encouraging. You can expect research-informed ideas you can take straight into everyday conversations, time to practise listening and questioning in small groups, space to reflect, notice, and make sense of your own experience, conversations that help build clarity and awareness, support that helps turn insight into gentle action, and opportunities to focus on what feels most relevant to you. You are free to contribute as much or as little as you like. Many people find that listening is just as valuable as speaking.
How the sessions work
Each session introduces a simple concept or idea, followed by guided practice and reflection together. Learning happens through experience, curiosity, and noticing what works for you.
Sessions are facilitated by me. I am an experienced coach and facilitator, and my role is to hold the space, offer light structure, and support thoughtful, respectful conversation. I love learning and teaching, and I bring this passion to every session.
